A 33-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested for sexual assault early Sunday morning in Garden Grove.
According to Sgt. Luis Payan of the GGPD, the incident took place around 1:35 a.m. in the 7700 block of Chapman Avenue. A woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by her live-in boyfriend. She told police he was still inside the apartment.
When officers arrived, the suspect – identified as James Lehman – refused to come out. Crisis negotiators and a SWAT unit were summoned and he ultimately surrendered.
He was arrested on sexual assault charges and booked into Orange County Jail. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
