Ocean View High School’s athletic teams are known as the Seahawks. But they did so well this spring on the diamond they might fairly be called the Bathawks.
The OVHS softball team won the Division 5 pennant and the baseball team won the Empire League crown and advanced all the way to the CIF-SS Division 2 championship game, losing only by a run.
That successful season was reflected in the all-CIF-SS softball and baseball teams announced on Thursday.
Desyree Arizmendi, a pitcher, was named Player of the Year for Division 5. The championship coach was Jose Smith, also of Ocean View. Also named to the D-5 all-stars was Nivea Armenta, catcher for Ocean View.
The school also landed two players on the Division 2 baseball all-stars: seniors Thomas Williams and Brendon Wood.
Here are local players named all-CIF in the two sports.
