Man hospitalized after fire

FIREFIGHTERS from the Orange County Fire Authority knocked down a pre-dawn fire Sunday in Stanton. One man was hospitalized in critical condition (OCFA photo).

An early morning fire at a duplex in Stanton on Sunday sent one man to the hospital in critical condition, but a dog was rescued without harm.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the blaze was reported around 5 a.m. in the 10500 block of Sycamore Avenue, near Beach Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down in 22 minutes and rescue the man. They performed CPR on him and transported to him to the hospital. They also saved the dog and kept the fire from spreading to the second unit of the duplex.

Assistance was provided by Anaheim Fire & Rescue, Stanton’s Orange County Sheriff’s deputies and the SoCal Red Cross.
