New COVID-19 cases at 315

ORANGE COUNTY statistics for coronavirus showed 315 new cases Tuesday (Shutterstock).

The total of new reported cases of coronavirus in Orange County is at 315 in Tuesday’s report from the county health care agency.

Because of the rising number of infections and hospitalizations, the OCHCA has gone back to daily reports, replacing the policy of weekly reports of the previous two weeks.

One death was reported for today and hospitalizations are at 126. Patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units are at 59.

Cases to date are at 259,695 in the OC, of which 250,701 are considered recovered.  The death total is 5,136.

At the national level, The New York Times is reporting that new cases are up 198 percent over a 14-day period and deaths have risen 44 percent.

In California, new cases are up 303 percent over two weeks, according to the Los Angeles Times.  Deaths have increased 64 percent.
