Fountain Valley police are investigating a homicide that took the life of a woman on Monday.
According to the FVPD, police responded to a report of a traffic collision at 6:11 p.m. in a residential area of Tradewinds Street and Slater Avenue. Arriving officers found citizens and personnel from the Fountain Valley Police Department rendering medical aid to the driver, a 26-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was “unresponsive.”
She was later pronounced dead at the scene and a gunshot wound was discovered. Detectives believe the victim and the shooter were known to each other and there’s no threat to the public. The name of the victim is not being released until next of kin can be notified.
