Reflecting a statewide and national trend, confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County continue to rise.
According to Friday’s report from the county health care agency, new cases increased from 522 on Thursday to 593. Deaths declined from one to zero.
Hospitalizations jumped from 236 to 252 and patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units edged up from 56 to 59.
To date, the OC has had 264,171 cases, of which 251,497 are considered recovered. Deaths total 5,140.

Nationally, new cases have risen 151 percent over the past 14 days, according to The New York Times, and deaths are up by 15 percent. In California, cases have risen 156 percent over a similar period, but deaths have declined 6 percent.
