The daily count of confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County continued its roller coaster path Thursday, but other numbers continued to mount, if slowly.
According to the county health agency, new cases hit 572 on Thursday, down from 1,213 on Wednesday. Deaths were even at four.
Hospitalizations rose from 568 to 571 and the number of patients being treated in intensive care units in hospitals increased from 125 to 133.
To date, Orange County has had 278,417 coronavirus cases, of which 256,640 have been declared recovered. Deaths are at 5,169.
At the national level, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day-period – new cases are up 47 percent and deaths up 97 percent. In California, new cases have increased 25 percent and deaths by 112 percent, reports the Los Angeles Times, over a similar period.
