New COVID-19 cases on rise

ORANGE COUNTY new cases, deaths, and ICU uses are up in Friday’s report (Shutterstock).

You can get dizzy from watching the changes in the numbers of new coronavirus cases reported daily by the Orange Couth Health Care Agency.

Friday’s count showed 820 new cases, compared to 572 on Thursday and 1,213 on Wednesday.

The OCHCA reported seven deaths, up from four the two previous days. Hospitalizations stayed even at 571 and the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units rose to 137 from 133 the day before.

To date, the number of OC cases is at 279,237, of which 257,194 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,176.

Nation-wide, The New York Times is reporting a 44 percent increase in new cases over a 14-day period, with deaths up by 108 percent. In California, over a similar period, new cases have risen 25 percent and deaths by 111 percent.
