Confirmed new cases of coronavirus continue to decline in Orange County, as do hospitalizations.
According to the county health care agency, new cases on Wednesday dropped to 338 from Tuesday’s four-day average of 413 and Friday’s 414.
Hospitalizations fell from 466 on Tuesday to 446 on Wednesday. Deaths in Wednesday’s report were at 16, but Tuesday’s total of 20 was a four-day total.
The treatment of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units increased to 135 from 128.
To date, the total of coronavirus cases in the OC us at 288,939, of which 270,457 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,286.
At the national level, The New York Times is reporting a 1 percent increase in new cases and a 34 percent rise in deaths, over a 14-day period. In California, Los Angeles Times calculates that – over a similar time period – new cases are down 26 percent and deaths up by 23 percent.
