Four major measurements of the status of coronavirus in Orange County showed declines in Thursday’s report.
According to the county health care agency, new confirmed cases dropped to 296 from 338 and deaths declined from 16 to nine. Hospitalizations went from 446 on Wednesday to 432 today. The number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units slid from 135 to 132.
To date, the total number of Orange County cases is at 289,235, of which 271,344 are considered recovered. Total deaths are at 5,295.
Nationally, The New York Times is reporting a 2 percent decline in new cases and a 32 percent increase in deaths over a 14-day period. In California, new cases are down 29 percent and deaths up 23 percent over a similar interval, according to Los Angeles Times.
