The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will discuss the possibility of a new grant award from the California Department of Social Services, which aims to enhance the social and academic performance of refugee and immigrant students when it meets on Tuesday night. The meeting will be held in person Tuesday (today) at 7 p.m. at the Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove. Masks must be always worn.
The California Newcomer Education and Well-Being (CalNEW) program is a new grant award that will provide resources for refugee/immigrant students & families including academic, behavioral, and social support services at the Family Resource Centers (FRC).
The board will consider the approval of the CalNEW Program grant during the fiscal years of 2021 through 2024 in the amount of $807,250.00, according to the meeting agenda.
The board will also consider the authorization of Diagnostic Laboratory Science, Inc for weekly COVID-19 on-site testing for all unvaccinated employees beginning Monday, Oct. 18.
