The number of confirmed new coronavirus case in Orange County continues to tumble, according to Thursday’s report from the county health care agency.
The OCHCA counts 198 cases, down from 215 on Wednesday and Tuesday’s four-day average of 234. Deaths rose from four to five and hospitalizations ticked up from 205 to 207. The use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients remained steady at 40.
To date, Orange County has had 300,944 cases of coronavirus, of which 288,961 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,513.
Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – new cases are down 22 percent and deaths down by 5 percent. In California, Los Angeles Times is reporting new cases to be down 30 percent and deaths by 9 percent, over a similar period.
