Monday’s stats show declines

CORONAVIRUS cases are down in Orange County according to the county health agency (Shutterstock).

Monday’s three-day total of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Orange County is 666, which comes out to a daily average of 222. That’s the report from the county health care agency. Friday’s total was 244.

Deaths (also a three-day total, since the OCHCA does not report numbers over the weekend) are at 10. Hospitalizations are down to 175 from 210 and the use of intensive care units to treat patients suffering from COVID-19 declined from 39 to 34.

To date, Orange County has had 301,854 cases, of which 290,101 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,528.

On the national level, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – cases are down 22 percent and deaths by 19 percent.

In California, Los Angeles Times has calculated that (over a similar period) cases are down 29 percent statewide and deaths down 9 percent.
