New case count drops to 129

Tuesday’s report on the coronavirus pandemic from the Orange County Health Care Agency showed 129 new cases, down from Monday’s three-day average of 278.

The OCHCA also reported deaths at six, down from 12. However, hospitalizations rose from 207 to 213 and the use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients increased from 43 to 52.

To date, Orange County has had 303,699 cases, of which 292,371 are considered recovered. The death total is 5,584.

Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – new cases have declined 22 percent and deaths by 11 percent. In California, Los Angeles Times reports that (over a similar period) new cases are down 53 percent and deaths by 34 percent.
