
A VETERANS’ DAY event is planned for Nov. 11 at St. Columban School in Garden Grove (Shutterstock).
A Veterans Day event is planned for Thursday, Nov. 11 at St. Columban School in Garden Grove at 1:30 p.m.
All veterans are invited to attend, not just St. Columban church parishioners. They’ll be honored by the school choir, marching band and bell choir as well as the entire student body. A special table of honor will be available to display framed photos of deceased veterans.
The event will be in the parking lot. The school is located at 10855 Stanford Ave.
Garden Grove Historical Society will be conducting its Barn & Book Sale this week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The sale is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 12174 Euclid St. (south of Chapman Avenue).
For sale will be books, paperbacks, magazines, records, CDs, DVDs, audiotapes, jewelry, collectibles, toys, hobby items and more.

Free flu shot walk-in clinic will be held Friday at the Garden Grove Main Library. The hours are 12-4 p.m. at the library at 11200 Stanford Ave. (at Euclid Street). Fourteen students from the cities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Westminster have been named to the dean’s list at Biola University in La Mirada. They are:
- Garden Grove: Blake Anderson, Abby Chavez, Halie Jamir, Yeokyung Lee, India Long, Rebecca Stewart.
- Huntington Beach: Caleb Clark, Emma Fabros, Ian Grove, Kalee King, Sophia Miceli, Ian Rogers.
- Westminster: Ethan Montgomery, Luke Montgomery.
Jake Akers of Garden Grove has earned a master of science degree in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
The Stanton Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Nov. 3 has been cancelled. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17.
“Ghostbusters II” will be screened on Saturday at Bolsa Chica Park in Westminster. The movie will begin at dusk … approximately 6:15 p.m. The event is free and will include a costume contest starting at 5:30 p.m. Because of COVID-19, masks are recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated.
