Educator grants, school boards

THREE LOCAL school boards will hold public hearings on Educator Effectiveness grants (Shutterstock).

For three of the local school boards meeting this week, a key topic is public hearings for block grants for the Educator Effectiveness grant program.

According to the California Department of Education, there’s one-time funding available to school systems to “provide professional learning for teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals and classified staff in order to promote educator equity, quality and effectiveness.”

The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will meet today (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. in person at 10331 Stanford Ave. This is also the annual organizational meeting at which board officers are selected.

Also today, the Ocean View School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. In addition to a presentation on the Educator Effectiveness program, there will also be a student patriotic performance from Westmont School set to begin at 6:05 p.m.

The Westminster School District Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday. In addition to the public hearing on the block grants, the board will consider a resolution maintaining the WSD’s district area boundaries, and labor agreements with employee groups.
