
STANTON CITY Council on Tuesday voted to allocate $2.5 in new federal funds for a homeless housing project (File photo).
The allocation of $2.5 million in new federal funds toward supportive housing for the homeless was approved by the Stanton City Council on Tuesday night.
On a 4-0 vote – with Mayor David Shawver absent – the council decided to commit funding from the American Rescue Plan Act for a partnership with the County of Orange and Jamboree Housing Corporation to acquire the Riviera Motel on Beach Boulevard in Stanton for use – after rehabilitation – and conversion into housing for the unsheltered.
Also on Tuesday night, the council:
- approved on a 4-0 vote allocating $173,000 of ARPA funs for an outdoor fitness court at Stanton Park;
- reached a consensus and directed city staff to research a staff report with options on televising/broadcasting city council meeting.
