On a 4-0 vote – with Mayor David Shawver absent – the council decided to commit funding from the American Rescue Plan Act for a partnership with the County of Orange and Jamboree Housing Corporation to acquire the Riviera Motel on Beach Boulevard in Stanton for use – after rehabilitation – and conversion into housing for the unsheltered.

Also on Tuesday night, the council:

  • approved on a 4-0 vote allocating $173,000 of ARPA funs for an outdoor fitness court at Stanton Park;
  • reached a consensus and directed city staff to research a staff report with options on televising/broadcasting city council meeting.
