2 arrested, 4 guns are seized

FIREARMS seized by Westminster police from “known gang members” (WPD photos).

Two weeks of investigation by Westminster police resulted in two arrests and the seizure of four firearms.

According to the WPD, the operation started on Feb. 6, when patrol officers responded to a call about assault with a deadly weapon in the 8300 block of Westminster Boulevard, east of Beach Boulevard and the Civic Center.

Two suspects were involved in an altercation in which a gun was pointed at the victim.  The officers and detectives identified both suspects who were known local gang members.

The surveillance that followed located one suspect in Moreno Valley who was arrested on Feb. 10.  A search warrant was obtained and served for another location relating to the arrest, where three handguns were recovered.

While checking “local gang hangouts” today (Thursday) police located a juvenile suspect from the Feb. 6 incident. He attempted to flee and during the chase, dropped a loaded pistol.  He was taken into custody and booked into Juvenile Hall.
