ORANGEWOOD ACADEMY was the sole local winner in CIF-SS girls’ basketball play on Saturday (Shutterstock).

One area high school girls’ basketball team posted a win in CIF-SS playoff action on Saturday.

In Open Division Pool B play, Orangewood Academy of Garden Grove (now 21-9) defeated Bishop Montgomery, 54-50. Jayionne Brown led the Spartans with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Division 5A action saw Santa Ana defeat Magnolia 55-41 and Price beat Orange 53-45.

In the CIF-SS Division 2 girls’ water polo final on Saturday in Irvine, Yucaipa defeated Edison High of Huntington Beach 5-3.  The Chargers finished the season with a 16-13 record.
