The Huntington Beach City Council and Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will each hold meetings tonight (Tuesday).

A relatively light agenda will greet the city council, which will hold a study session at 4:30 p.m., a closed session at 5 p.m. and the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held both in person at the council chambers and remotely via Zoom.

Among the items to be considered are:

  • recognition of the Marina High School girls’ wrestling team for winning the CIF-SS Central Division championship;
  • reaffirmation of a resolution adopted earlier proclaiming a state of emergency permitting some meetings – including the city council – to be conducted remotely;
  • modifying salary and benefits for city employees not represented by a bargaining unit/union.

The council will adjourn in memory of Jeremy and Joshua Page, twin brothers killed in an automobile accident several days ago in Huntington Beach. They were students at Edison High School.

Next meeting of the council is scheduled for April 5.

In Garden Grove the school board will consider ratification of tentative agreements with the Garden Grove Education Association (teachers and other faculty) and with the Supervisory Unit (supervisors of physical plants in the district).

The board will meet in-person with a closed session at 5 p.m. and the regular meeting starting at 7 p.m. Masks are not required but are “strongly recommended.”
