Confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County declined for the fifth consecutive day.
According to the county health agency, new cases in Thursday’s count were 106, down from Wednesday’s 111. Nearly week ago, on March 18, the tally was 731.
Deaths dropped from 10 to one and patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units declined from 26 to 24. Hospitalizations increased from 125 to 127.
Since the pandemic began, Orange County has had 546,125 cases of coronavirus. Of that number, 435,358 are considered recovered. The death total is at 6,857.
Nationally, The New York Times calculates that – over a 14-day period – new cases have fallen by 19 percent and deaths by 33 percent. In California, new cases are down by 19 percent and deaths by 40 percent.
