The Huntington Beach High School softball team is alone atop the Sunset Surf League after a 5-2 win over Marina on Thursday.

A four-run rally in the top of the third provided all the runs the Oilers would need, but they did have to hold off a rally by the Vikings in the bottom of the seventh in which the home team scored twice.

The Oilers are now 8-3 overall and 2-0 in league. Marina is 7-6 and 1-1.

HBHS was led by Jaylene Duarte who went 3-for-4 at the plate, Zoe Prystajko with two hits, a home run and three RBIs, and pitcher Tea Gutierrez. She worked seven innings, yielding just four hits and two runs. She struck out four batters and walked none.

Here are baseball and softball results for games played by local teams on Thursday.

  • Western 9, Glenn 1

  • Huntington Beach 5, Marina 2
  • Los Alamitos 7, Edison 1
  • Orangewood Academy 13, Century 3.
