Car storage lot is proposed

GARDEN GROVE Planning Commission will meet on April 7 (Shutterstock).

A new “automotive fleet storage” lot goes before the Garden Grove Planning Commission when it meets on Thursday, April 7.

Simpson Chevrolet, which operates a new and used car dealership on Trask Avenue in Garden Grove, is seeking to develop a vacant 1.7-acre site from the north side of Chapman Avenue to the east side of Gilbert Street.

The facility, which would be for storage of cars and not used for sales or repair, would accommodate 144 parking spaces. The site is on the former Pacific Electric right-of-way and is now owned by the Orange County Transit Authority, which retains a permanent easement across property in the event that future public transit uses are developed.

Under the proposal, automobiles would be off-loaded at the Trask Avenue dealership, then driven individually to the fleet storage lot.

The commission will meet in person in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., at 7 p.m.
