The tumble in two key coronavirus statistics in Orange County continues in Tuesday’s report.
According to the county health care agency, the sum of confirmed new cases – which covers three days – is 288, which is an average of 96 per day. That compares to Monday’s report of 143 and Friday’s 159.
Deaths reported Tuesday are 10. That’s also a three-day total, which is a daily average of 3.33. Hospitalizations rose from 66 to 70 and the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units remained steady at 14.
To date, the number of coronavirus cases in Orange County is 547,557, of which 537,512 are considered recovered.
The death total is at 6,901.
Nationally, The New York Times reports that – over a 14-day stretch – new cases have declined by 6 percent and deaths by 40 percent. In California, new cases are down by 27 percent over a similar period, and deaths by 51 percent, according to Los Angeles Times.
