New playground gear on the way

EXAMPLE OF playground equipment installed by Western State Builders.

New playground equipment could be ready to use as early as August in the wake of the Garden Grove City Council’s consideration of approving a contract to install it at Garden Grove Park.

The council will meet on Tuesday in person in the Community Meeting Center at 6:30 p.m. to vote on awarding a contract worth $263,988 to Western State Builders for the job. If the council proceeds and awards the contract, pre-construction work would begin on or around May 16 with construction anticipated to be finished by July 31.

Western State would be installing playground equipment previously ordered from Innovative Playground Company.  This will be the latest step in fulfilling the 2019 Parks and Facilities Master Plan.

Also on the agenda are:

  • a “Community Spotlight” celebrating David Skelton and Susan Lerma as Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce 2022 Man and Woman of the Year;
  • a proclamation celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Garden Grove Host Lions Club.
