A pay raise of 10 percent for most municipal employees goes before the Westminster City Council when it meets on Wednesday.

“Memorandums of Understanding” between the city and the Westminster Municipal Employees Association and Westminster Police Officers Association, with conditions also covering certain other city employees, are on the agenda.

Previous agreements expired on June 30, 2020.

If approved, they would go into effect on July 2, 2022 and be effective through June 30, 2023.

The salary increase is not retroactive and does not compound. In addition to the pay hike, employees will retain nine additional hours of floating holiday time. A $100 monthly increase toward the medical Family Plan only is also in the deal.

A mechanism for adjusting the salaries of employees who are below the medians established through a compensation study is also included.

Also on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting is a review of the oral communications policy for city council meetings, as relates to the time allotted for speakers whose comments are translated into a language other than English.

The council will meet in person and via teleconference/web conference with a closed session at 5 p.m. and the open session at 7 p.m. The council chambers are located in the Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
