Tuesday’s brief meeting of the Garden Grove City Council closed in memory of the people – now believed to be at least 21 – killed in a mass shooting at an elementary school in a small town in Texas.
Mayor Steve Jones said that all flags at city buildings would be flown at half-staff until sunset on Saturday, May 28, as requested by President Joe Biden.
A short agenda greeted the council, which was short on two members, Phat Bui (District 4) and Stephanie Klopfenstein (District 5).
The council approved:
- a proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ Pride Month
- introduction and first reading of an ordinance adopting the GGPD Military Equipment Use Policy
- second reading and adoption of an ordinance amending the municipal code establishing “automotive fleet storage” as a permitted use in the neighborhood mixed use zone
- second reading of an ordinance prohibiting the unlawful possession of catalytic converters in the city, and repairs and sales of bicycles and bicycle parts on public property.
The next meeting of the council is set for Tuesday, June 14.
