The daily average of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County continues to bounce up and down.

Tuesday’s statistics from the county health care agency shows 2,620 new cases over a four-day period. That’s an average of 655 daily cases, compared to last Friday’s average of 991 but relatively close to the previous Tuesday’s figure of 610 per day.

To date, Orange County has had 571,995 cases of COVID-19 reported, of which 548,126 are considered recovered. Deaths now total 7,034.

Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – new cases are up 14 percent, deaths up 22 percent and hospitalizations up 20 percent.

In California, new cases have risen 69 percent over a similar period, deaths have declined 14 percent, reports Los Angeles Times.
