The second traffic fatality in one day occurred late Tuesday night in Huntington Beach.
According to Jessica Cuchilla, public information officer for the HBPD, the fatal crash took place at around 11 p.m., on Bolsa Chica Street north of Argosy Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian – a 63-year-old woman – dead in the roadway. She had been struck by a 2019 Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Toyota, a 60-year old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene as did his passenger, a 49-year-old woman from the same city.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the Highlander was traveling southbound on Bolsa Chica Street and struck the pedestrian in the roadway – outside of the crosswalk – north of Argosy.
In the previous accident Tuesday morning, an 82-year-old Seal Beach man died when his Toyota Camry crossed the center median on Pacific Coast Highway and collided with a Volkswagen GTI.
The inquiry is continuing. Anyone with information about either of the collisions or events leading up to them is encouraged to call HBPD Traffic Investigator Doug Demetre at (714) 536-5670.
