Happy birthday, America!

“SIGNING of the Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull (1797)

Happy Independence Day! Happy 4th of July!

This marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776. It’s the birthday of the United States of America.

The U.S.A. was the first nation to declare that “all men are created equal.” It’s the longest-lasting democracy in human history and remains the most innovative, influential and powerful nation on Earth.

We can be proud of our nation and still recognize that there’s work to be done to create “a more perfect union.”

We can disagree – somethings strongly – on many issues and still recognize that there are more things that unite us than there are that divide us.

To that end, as we celebrate the 4th, we hope you and your neighbors and friends will be mindful of the sensitivities of pets and combat veterans to loud noises. We also hope you understand that fireworks innately have the potential for injury and damage. So be careful out there.

Let’s all seek to enjoy not just the BBQ and pyrotechnics but also the liberty within law that has made America the most-admired nation in history.
