Inflation, fueled in large part because of the rising costs of gasoline, food and housing, has risen by 9.1 percent over the past year, according to the Department of Commerce.

The Associated Press reports that the increase in the consumer price index was the biggest annual rise since 1981. Half of that increase is attributed to fuel prices.

According to United Press International, in June prices rose by 1.3 percent, the biggest one-month rose so far in 2022. There may be some relief in sight, though.

The New York Times reports that gasoline prices in the U.S have decreased for 28 consecutive days.
