Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist who claimed the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre was a hoax, was ordered Thursday by a Texas jury to pay $4.1 million to the parents of a 6-year-old boy killed in the mass shooting.
According to The Associated Press, Jones is the host of the online show InfoWars in which he has spread unsupported allegations including the 2016 “Pizzagate” story in which he claimed that a child sex ring was being operated by Democrats in the non-existent basement of a Washington, D.C. pizza eatery.
Jones still has to face other legal action relating to his Sandy Hook claims.
“I admitted I was wrong,” said Jones, according to The New York Times. “I admitted it was a mistake. I admitted that I followed disinformation but not on purpose.”
