A request to “unseal” the warrant used by FBI agents to seize documents from former president Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home was made Thursday by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
According to The New York Times, the move came after harsh criticism by Republicans of the Justice Department’s action. The serving of the warrant also inspired threats against federal officers.
In a possibly-related incident, a man who tried to force his way into the Cincinnati office of the FBI was fatally shot by state lawmen after exchanging fire with members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, according to The Associated Press.
The man, identified as Ricky Shiffer, 42, was armed and wearing body amor.
Gasoline prices on the decline
The average price of a gallon of gasoline in the U.S, fell below $4 on Thursday, according to a survey by the American Automobile Association.
United Press International reports that the price of $3.99 per gallon is the lowest in five months. Increased domestic production and the release of oil from the national strategic service are cited as reasons.
Sports: A day off for streaking Halos, Dodgers
The Los Angeles Angels (three games) and Los Angeles Dodgers (10 games) each have winning streaks, and they won’t snap or extend them on Thursday.
After a day off, the Halos will host the Minnesota Twins on Friday and the Blue Crew will visit Kansas City to take on the Royals.
