Get out your sun hat. Stay indoors or in the shade. A heat wave is coming to the West Orange County area.
The forecast calls for Wednesday’s high to hit 95 during the day with a nighttime high of 50. There will be a brief pause on Thursday and Friday with highs at 89 and 88 before the thermometer peaks again at 98 and 99 over the weekend.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the low- to mid-90s through next Wednesdays.
Daily highs near the beach areas are expected to be about five degrees cooler.
The City of Garden Grove will be opening a “public cooling center” at the Sports and Recreation Center, 13641 Deodara Drive in Garden Grove Park, near Bolsa Grande High School.
All ages are welcome to enjoy the center’s air-conditioned facilities including lobby and restrooms. Food won’t be available and no pets will be allowed except for service animals.
The cooling center will be open from 11 a.am. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday, Aug. 31 to Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day).
