A fuel leak on Saturday cancelled NASA’s test launch of its moon rocket system, the second delay in a week.
According to the Associated Press, the mishap will mean that the Artemis I rocket, and its Orion space capsule, will be grounded for weeks and the next launch attempt may be delayed until October.
Saturday’s was scrubbed by hydrogen fuel leaks.
The rocket and capsule will be moved off the launch pad for repairs and system updates.
Man threatened to crash plane into Walmart
A man allegedly stole an airplane from an airport in Tupelo, Mississippi Saturday, then threatened to crash it into a Walmart store.
According to United Press International, Cory Patterson was arrested and charged with grand theft and making terrorist threats.
He claimed he was going to crash it into the store, say police, which was quickly evacuated. After five hours he landed the plane – a twin-engine King Air C90 – and was taken into custody.
Sports: Oregon Ducks get plucked
The 2022 college football season got off to a start Saturday with some big matchups. Third-ranked Georgia defeated 11th-rated Oregon 49-3 as Bulldog quarterback Stetson Bennett passed for 368 yards and two touchdowns.
Second-ranked Ohio State defeated fifth-ranked Notre Dame 21-10.
UCLA beat Bowling Green 45-17, and USC defeated Rice 66-14.
Golden West College’s football team defeated district rival Orange Coast College 41-7 in the Battle of the Bell at the GWC campus.
Baseball: The Angels are hosting the Houston Astros and the Dodgers are hosting the San Diego Padres.
Weather: Hot, hotter and a bit muggy
The heat wave broiling West Orange County continues with temps today (Saturday) as high as 97 degrees. The evening will be warm too, with an overnight low of 77. Sunday’s high is forecast to climb to 104 with an overnight low of 73.
Monday should see some relative relief with a decline during the day to 94 (71). Tuesday will dip to 90 (71). Temperatures along the coast should be five to eight degrees cooler.
