In a reversal of recent improvements, Friday’s tally of confirmed new coronavirus cases and deaths showed increases.
According to Orange County health care agency, over the period of Sept. 6 to 8, confirmed new cases were 1,422, an average of 474 per day. That’s a big jump from Tuesday’s average of 225.25.
Deaths rose from eight to 24. The total number of deaths in the county from coronavirus now stands at 7,389.
However, hospitalizations dropped to 189 from 202 and the use of intensive care units to treat COVID-19 patients declined from 30 to 26.
The OCHCA agency announced that beginning next week it would post numbers once a week on Thursdays.
