The driver was arrested and the victim succumbed to his injuries early Monday morning.

According to the SAPD, police received calls at about 4:58 p.m. about a vehicle hitting a pedestrian in the 1500 block of South Fairview Street and fleeing the scene.

Arriving officers found a man at the bus stop who had suffered “significant injuries.” Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and began to treat the man, who was then taken to an area hospital for further treatment.

On Monday around 2:09 a.m. the Orange County Coroner’s office contacted the SAPD to advise that the victim had died from his injuries.

Investigating officers believe the vehicle was traveling south on Fairview when it hit the pedestrian. Police later located the vehicle and arrested the motorist for felony driving under the influence and felony hit and run.
