Bike “boulevard” on agenda

A “BICYCLE BOULEVARD” is proposed on Utica Avenue in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).

The Huntington Beach City Council will decide tonight (Tuesday) whether to authorize the construction of a bicycle boulevard on Utica Avenue.

At the cost of $493,589, new signage and roadway markings would be put up, a new passage for bicycles and pedestrians only would be created, and a new traffic signal built at the corner of Lake Street and Utica Avenue.

The construction will be a cooperative effort between the city of Huntington Beach and PTM General Engineering Services.

Residents of the city will have the chance to make their opinions heard at tonight’s council meeting, which starts at 6 p.m.
