
A BREA man was arrested early Sunday morning in Garden Grove for felony drunk driving and manslaughter in the hit-and-run death of a man (Shutterstock).
A 26-year-old Brea man has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Garden Grove early Sunday morning.
According to Sgt. Royce Wimmer of the GGPD, Alexis Lopez was booked into Orange County Jail for felony driving under the influence, felony hit-and-run and felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
At 1:55 a.m. police received a call of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street (near Chapman Avenue). An officer in the area saw the vehicle leaving the scene without the driver stopping or rendering aid to the pedestrian.
The officer pulled over the truck – a white 2020 Toyota Tacoma – and placed the driver under arrest. The pedestrian was treated at the scene and was taken to an area hospital where was pronounced dead.
The decedent was identified only as a 53-year-old male transient.
