The Texas man sought in the fatal shooting of five people – including an 8-year-old boy – is still at large.
According to the Associated Press, the suspect is Francisco Oropeza, 38. The shooting apparently took place late Friday night when neighbors asked him to stop firing his rifle as it was making it difficult to sleep.
The victims raged in age from 8 to 31– all Hondurans – and were shot “from the neck up.”
The shooting was done inside the victims’ house in a rural area near Cleveland, Texas.
Fire ravages Crimean oil depot
A massive fire at a fuel depot in a Russian-occupied area of Crimea destroyed four oil tanks.
According to United Press International, Russia is claiming the damage was done by a Ukrainian drone. The Kyiv government did not claim responsibility for the incident, but one Ukrainian official called it “punishment for Russia’s killing of civilians.”
Also in the news … The civil war in Sudan continues to rage despite a cease-fire arranged by the U.S., according to UPI. The Sudanese Army is battling the Rapid Support Forces unit that broke away from the army.
Angels fall to Brewers; Dodgers win
Mike Trout hit two home runs but the Los Angeles Angels lost 7-5 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The loss put the Halos at 14-14, still in third place in the AL West. Trout batted 3-for-4 with five RBIs and scored twice, raising his batting average to .320.
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 1-0 with Clayton Kershaw (5-1) pitching seven innings while yielding two hits and no walks. He struck out seven batters.
Austin Barnes’ single in the bottom of the second drove in James Outman with the game’s only run. Now 15-13, the Dodgers remain in second place in the NL West.
In NHL Stanley Cup playoff action, the Los Angeles Kings are hosting the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers lead three games to two.
