Homeless man killed in accident

ONE PERSON is dead and another injured in a traffic accident early Saturday morning in Garden Grove (Shutterstock).

An early morning traffic mishap Saturday took the life of a homeless man and injured a woman driving a truck in Garden Grove.

According to the GGPD, the incident took place in the area of Chapman Avenue and Nelson Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the scene at 1:10 a.m. regarding a report of a motor vehicle crashed into a tree with the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

As officers arrived at the scene, they spotted a dead man – identified only as a male in his mid-40s – about 75 yards east of the collision site on the southeast corner of Chapman and Diane Street.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics transported the driver – a woman – to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of head and leg injuries.

The Orange County Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of dearth. Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the collision, pending results from the Orange County Crime Lab. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
