A suspect accused of attacking a woman with a knife was arrested by Garden Grove police on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Detective Sgt. Willie Holloway of the GGPD, Anh Duy Phan, 27, of Garden Grove is facing attempted homicide charges from an incident at 1:22 p.m. in the 12500 block of Lorna St., near Lampson Avenue and east of Dale Street.

Arriving officers found a woman with multiple knife wounds to her body and trauma to her neck that was “consistent with strangulation.” She told police that Phan – an acquaintance – had let himself into her apartment uninvited, and after an argument he pulled a knife and threatened to stab her.

She tried to leave, but the suspect allegedly pulled her back in and –placing his arm around the victim’s neck –inflicted numerous cuts and puncture wounds to her body and face.

The suspect left the apartment and fled the area, but was located in Westminster in possession of the weapon described by the  victim. He was later booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.
