WPD honors top employees

WESTMINSTER POLICE Department’s banquet honoring top employees (WPD photo).

The annual employee awards banquet of the Westminster Police Department was held last week at the Rose Center in Westminster.

Every year the police chief, command staff and Westminster Police Officer’s Association work together to formally recognize WPD members for their service to the community the previous year; in this case, 2022.

Recipients are selected from a committee of their peers, reviewing body camera footage and police reports in making their choices.

Here’s a select list of the awardees:

  • Officer of the Year: Engleberto Delgado
  • Rookie of the Year: Officer Evan Bruzzi
  • Supervisor of the Year: Sgt. Jerad Kent
  • Investigator of the Year: Detective Jonathan Figueroa
  • Volunteer of the Year: Ken Deagle
  • Part-Time Employee of the Year: Terry Schumacher
  • Professional Staff of the Year: PSO Nhat Tran
  • Top Shot Award: Sgt. Jerad Kent
  • MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving): Jack Wills made 25 arrests; Claire Tran made 62.
  • Above and Beyond Award: Police Explorer Sgt. Quan Vu
  • Community Service Award: Officer Delgado
  • Chief’s Award: Officers Devon Ha and Steven Vo
  • Medal of Merit Award: Officer Bryce Burton.
