Former president Donald Trump suffered another setback in his efforts to stop an investigation into allegations of attempts to reverse his loss in Georgia in the 2020 presidential election.

United Press International is reporting that Judge Robert McBurney of the Fulton County Superior Court rejected a request from Trump’s lawyers to disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis on the grounds of political bias and to reject a report by a special grand jury as ‘unconstitutional.”

The judge rejected the requests on the grounds that no indictments have been made and therefore Trump had no standing to challenge the proceedings.

Angels beat Atlanta Braves, 4-1

The Los Angeles Angels continued their hot streak on Monday, beating the best team in baseball – the Atlanta Braves – 4-1 and posting their 10th win in 13 games.

Powered by three home runs and backed by a strong pitching performance by starter Chase Silseth (3-1), the Halos are now 56-51 and in third place in the American League West, five games out of first and three games out of a wild card playoff spot.

Home runs were hit by newcomer Randal Grichuk – just acquired from the Colorado Rockies, along with former Angel C.J. Cron – and Chad Wallach and Luis Rengifo.

Shohei Ohtani, who was named American League Player of the Week for the third time this season, went 2-for-3 along with a walk and reached first when hit by a pitch.

Silseth pitched five innings, giving up just three hits and one earned run. He struck out four batters and walked none.

On Tuesday the Angels will send Patrick Sandoval (6-7) to the mound.

The Angels did receive some bad news on Tuesday that Taylor Ward, hit in the face by a pitch on Saturday, will be out for the remainder of the season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a travel day on Monday and will start a home series on Tuesday hosting the Oakland A’s.
