Coronavirus cases still on rise

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases are up in Orange County for the third consecutive week (Shutterstock).

For the third consecutive week, confirmed new cases of coronavirus have risen in Orange County, continuing what public health officials are calling a “summer bump.”

Statistics released by the county health agency for the week ending Aug, 9 show 796 new cases reported, up from 708 on Aug. 2, 613 on July 26 and 522 on July 19.

Deaths increased from three last week to 10 this week. The total on July 26 was 5 and 10 on July 19.

To date, Orange County has had 729,334 cases of the COVID-19 virus with 8,261 deaths.
