Both the Angels and Dodgers suffered tough losses on Tuesday night.
Error costs the Halos a win

The typical pattern of the Los Angeles Angels in building an early lead and then losing it continued Tuesday as the Halos lost 4-3 to the Cincinnati Reds in Anaheim.
Not even the return of Mike Trout – who was 1 for 4 – was enough to keep the Halos from losing for the third time in four games. They’re 61-65 and in fourth place in the American League West, 11 games out of first place and 10 games out of a wild card spot.
Angel scoring came on solo home runs by Brandon Drury (his 18th), Mike Moustakas (12th) and Logan O’Hoppe (fifth).
But the Reds rallied with three in the fifth inning. With two outs, an error by first baseman Nolan Schanuel allowed two runs to score.
It was a tough break for Angel starter Lucas Giolio (7-10), who went six innings giving up five hits and one earned run. He struck out nine batters and walked just one.
The Angels will have a chance to bend the trend with a double-header on Wednesday with Shohei Ohtani (10-5) making the start in the opener.
Blue Crew loses lead, game
By David Arthur/Orange County Tribune
Things were going pretty well for the Los Angeles Dodgers at Progressive Field on Tuesday until it all fell apart in the seventh inning.
Trailing 3-2, the Cleveland Guardians rallied for five runs in the bottom of the inning and went on to an 8-3 win. Starter Bobby Miller was doing well until RBI singles by Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez, coupled with a three-run home run by former Angel Kole Calhoun drove Miller (7-3) from the mound.
He ended up with 6.1 innings pitched, yielding six hits and four earned runs. He struck out five and walked one.
The Blue Crew had six hits, including a home run – his 16th of the year – by Will Smith and two hits by Mookie Betts.
With the loss, the Dodgers are 76-48 and still in first place in the National League West by 11.5 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Clayton Kershaw (11-4) will start for LAD in Wednesday’s game vs. Cleveland.
