The upside-down grid season

BOLSA GRANDE is 3-1 so far this year (GGUSD photo).

This is the season with the local high school football team is turned upside down … so far.

Edison, typically at the top of teams in our West Orange County area, is having a rough year, having to cancel openers in Hawaii and fallen to 1-2

Bolsa Grande and La Quinta, traditionally located toward the bottom of the Garden Grove League, are rising stars of the GGL with 3-1 records.

The best West County matchup is on Friday when the Bolsa Matadors visit Ocean View (2-2). Thursday’s best bet is to see two district and city rivals – Huntington Beach at Marina (both 2-2) – clash at Sheue Field.

Here’s this week’s local high school football schedule. Most games are scheduled to start at 7  p.m., but times, locations and opponents are subject to change without notice.  These are all non-league games. Note: Western and Santiago are idle this week.
