A struggle to avoid shutdown

A plan for strict border security enforcement isn’t enough for some Republicans as Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy works to avoid a shutdown of the federal government.

The Associated Press is reporting that McCarthy told his colleagues roar “you’re not going to go home. We’re going to continue to work through this.”

Congress is facing a Sept. 30 deadline to pass a continuing budget resolution to keep the federal government – except for emergency services – from shutting down on Oct. 1

The “hard right” Freedom Caucus is holding up a defense appropriations bill over objections over more military help for Ukraine.

Canadian PM accuses India of murder

JUSTIN TRUDEAU

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday accused “agents of the government of India” of the assassination of  – in British Columbia – a Sihk leader advocating for an independent Sihk nation inside of India.

According to The New York Times, Trudeau made the accusation in the House of Commons, calling it “an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty.”

Hardeep Singh Niijar, 45, was shot near a Sihk temple in June.

Weather: Temps go up and down

Daytime temperatures in our West Orange County area will likely fluctuate over the next week. The forecast for Tuesday is for a daytime high of 77 with an overnight low of 63 under partly cloudy skies.

Wednesday and Thursday will be cooler with highs of 74 and 71 (lows of 64 and 61). After that it’ll be cooler, highs rising to 80 (62) on Sunday.
