With the 2023 regular Major League Baseball season drawing to an end, the Los Angeles Dodgers are figuring out how they can win another World Series and the Los Angeles Angels are wondering what in the world went wrong … again.
On Friday, the Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-2 in the Bay City.
As the Blue Crew improved to 99-61, the National League West champs got three hits from Freddie Freeman and J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the sixth that put him over 1,000 RBIs in his career. It was his 33rd home run of the season.
Will Smith also homered (his 19th), as did Freeman (29th).
Lance Lynn (13-11) got the win, working six innings and given up just two hits and two earned runs. He struck out four batters and walked four.
The Dodgers can win their 100th game on Saturday or Sunday against the Giants, and then be idle until they start the NL playoffs the following Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
Back in Anaheim, the Angels (72-88) beat the Oakland A’s 5-1. Mickey Moniak hit his 14th home run of 2023. He had two hits and drove in two runs while scoring twice.
Starter Chase Silseth worked four innings, giving up two hits and one earned run.
Davis Daniel (1-1) got the win, going five innings and giving up two hits and no runs.
The Halos will close out the season with games against the A’s on Saturday and Sunday.
