The number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County declined for the third straight week.

According to statistics released by the county health care agency, the count of new cases through Sept. 27 is 972, down from 1,134 last week (Sept. 20), 1477 the previous week (Sept. 13) and 1,706 (Sept. 6).

The number of deaths connected to the virus was 12, down from 15 the week before.

To date, the county has had 737,941 cases of COVID-19 and 8,332 deaths.
